Oh my god I just got the most amazing message on DW.
"Greetings!
My name is Mariana and I am a Sumerian Recon from Portugal. I understand that you had a community back in LJ that discussed some ANE themes and I wanted to thank you for all you pioneering work all those years ago. There are a lot of interest now, in ancient Mesopotamian tradition and forms of religion, and almost 20 years ago, you were a part of that first revival.
So thank you, again.
Blessings to you and have a great day*"
This message blew my mind. I never considered that the work and research and sharing I did back then was "pioneering" but in retrospect it was. There just wasn't much interest in Sumerian religion, so I was mostly going it on my own, reading as much English-language ANE religion as I could, talking to more-educated people, and asking Inanna and my God-Self to guide me. In my early 20s! Without a college education! What a kind, kind person to send that message to me! I feel really proud of myself now.
I think I should go download and save all the writing I did on ANE religious practice in the LJ communities, just in case.
So many times in the last 18 years people have reached out to me and said that something I wrote or did on LJ inspired them or changed their lives. And people I barely know IRL have said to me that something I did or said inspired them or changed their lives. What if I have always been amazing but didn't know it?
