I've thrown away a lot of orchids recently.

I was repotting my Shelob when I discovered that it had fusarium. I would never have suspected- the plant was huge, robust, and healthy. But it self-divided while I was repotting it (aka the rhizome broke) and I saw the dreaded purple ring. I cut the rhizome all apart to see if I could find any uninfected PBs, but there were none. So into the garbage.

I was down to one last division of Miltonia Sunset, but the rhizome had some slight orange color, so I threw it away too. Then today I threw away both divisions of number 8. It is not thriving, it grows new roots and they die after a few inches, and the pots were crawling with springtails. So I unpotted. If I had found any promising signs I might have kept it, but I did not. In fact the rhizome was rotting in some places. So into the trash it went.
