The landscaper we want to hire to regrade the yard has been squirrelly. Like he's really slow to respond to contacts. When I get him on the phone he asks me to send him an email, and then when I send the email he never responds. So Monday I texted him saying I sent an email to let him know we want to hire him. He responded Tuesday morning. Supposedly he will get back to me soon.
We're so close. Like, I just really feel almost like recovery is possible now, it's within our reach. We have had the gutters installed, now we need the yard regraded. Once the yard is regraded, we can have the drywall repaired. We've already set aside the money for the regrading (we kept saying "After we pay for the regrading," and last week I suddenly said "Wait, we know how much the regrading will cost. Let's just move that amount into the savings account, so it's not in checking and we can account for future spending without it." Lightbulb moment!)
So after the regrading is paid for, then we get the drywall repaired and, we hope, the closet doors widened. (Honestly I kind of want to price out getting a pocket door for the master bathroom. The barn door has lost its charm. It means there's no privacy in the master bath. If we can get it done for $500 or less I think we should do it.) And after that, we pay off the credit cards. And after that we can look at things like the car and my student loans and maybe invest in another property.
Once the drywall and painting are done, I feel like I will really be able to put Harvey behind us. It will really be over when the house is repaired. I am so ready.
