Opal usually pees on the floor beside the litter box about 2 weeks after it is cleaned, which is why we change it every two weeks (we have self-scooping boxes but they still need changing out.) But the past week or so she has been peeing on the floor every day, and the last few days she has been kind of low-energy, so Saturday morning B took her to the vet. The verdict: UTI. Our regular vet was out, his substitute gave her an injection of Convenia and suggested we come back in 2-3 weeks to re-check the Ph of her urine.

I know Convenia gets a bad rap but it is like magic. The anti-inflammatory aspect is amazing. She was feeling better by Saturday evening, and came out to socialize with our guests a few times.

One thing I love about my vet: if he doesn't have any appointments open, he will let us drop her off in the morning and he will handle her case as he gets spare moments during the day. Then the office calls us when she's ready to be picked up. They said she was very talkative at the vet yesterday, which is unusual, she's usually quiet there. But then when she came home she was in good spirits and told us all about her morning.
