I sold our enormous unwieldy wet-dry vac yesterday. This guy wanted to haggle and I saw a golden opportunity. 




I love it when I realize that this moment is a perfect moment for a perfect joke.

I was thinking yesterday that I love it when someone sets me up for the perfect joke. But I realized just now that I wasn't giving myself credit: that it's more about me noticing that moment and having that joke come to mind. Maybe those opportunities are out there all the time and I don't notice.

Amusingly, sometimes those opportunities come and I don't notice them consciously, but some level of my mind must notice because I make the perfect joke anyway, and I don't notice until afterward that it was the perfect joke. This, I confess, was the case with the famous "it would behoove you" comment back in the day.

When I was a kid I always wanted to be the person who had the perfect quip for a funny situation. I was a child who loved humor but always felt slow on the uptake. So my sense of humor is one of my favorite things about me now.
